Assessments of Speech, Language and Communication Needs
 

 

The following is a guide and prices may vary, depending on the individual needs of the child. All prices will be discussed and agreed before any work commences.

Initial telephone consultation - Free

If you have any concerns about your child’s communication skills, Laura Rowley-Howard will be able to offer you a free 15 minute consultation. The purpose of this is to discuss your specific needs and the services that she may be able to offer.

Initial Assessment - £200

Assessment of your child's needs in your home or at their nursery/school, which takes around 1 to 1.5 hours. This usually includes:

 

  • ​A full case history about your child (including details about your child's development, medical history etc).

  • Assessment and observation of your child.  This may be using a range of informal assessment activities. A formal age-appropriate assessment may be undertaken, if appropriate.

  • Guidance about how your child's communication skills can be supported at home and at school/nursery. 

  • Short written summary of discussion and recommendations.

  • Liaison with your child's preschool or school as required.

Formal Language Assessment with detailed report - £300

 

Full assessment of your child's needs in your home or at their educational setting for up to two hours. This usually includes:

 

  • Case history (details about your child's development, medical history etc).

  • Observation of your child's communication skills.

  • Detailed assessment of your child's communication using formal, standardised assessments as appropriate.

  • Guidance for supporting your child's speech and language skills.

  • Full written report of your child's communication skills and needs with recommendations of how to support their speech, language and communication skills.

  • Liaison with your child's preschool or school as required.

Speech Sound Assessment – £150

​

Assessment of your child’s speech sounds in your home or at your child’s educational setting, for up to one hour. This usually includes:

​

  • Full case history

  • Formal assessment of pronunciation (speech sounds only)

  • Summary report, including recommendations.

​
